Authorship and responsibility
Material is published with a byline, not anonymously. Responsibility for the facts lies with the site's editors, not with outside contractors.
Material on this site is prepared and checked by Elena Whitmore.
Sources and fact checking
A statement enters the piece only after it has been checked against a source. An unverifiable claim is one we would rather not publish at all.
Corrections procedure
We take reports from readers on any piece. We correct the text rather than leaving a retraction underneath it.
